FIRE PREVENTION

Few realize how easily and quickly fire can destroy homes and lives. Fortunately, smoke detectors can help protect against a fire by providing an early warning. Experts say that when a fire starts, you can have as little as two minutes to evacuate your home. Smoke detectors allow you and your family sufficient time to reach safety. Keep your family safe by installing smoke detectors today.

Despite their life-saving potential and low cost many people have neglected to install smoke detectors.

Even those who do have smoke detectors often take them for granted by forgetting that they need to be maintained in order to continue working properly.

MAINTENANCE

    • The N.F.P.A. strongly recommends replacing smoke detectors no later than ten years. However most are replaced after 5 to 6 years, to assure maximum protection.
    • Smoke detectors are susceptible to dust and dirt, that after time cannot be blown out.
    • The dust and grime will eventually reduce the effectiveness of your smoke detectors.
    • Smoke detectors consist of a light source that is designed to refract off of incoming smoke into a light sensitive grid, and set off the fire alarm. When the light source and grid gets dusty or dirty, the detectors ability is compromised, sometimes causing false alarms.
SMOKE DETECTORS
Bosch flush mount detectors

  • Sophisticated in technology and design, these smoke detectors actually detect smoke outside the detector, so the issues of dirt and dust are of little significance.

Vesda Air Sampling Smoke detection systems
  • State of the art in fire safety, detection ability is adjustable up to 1000 times more sensitive than conventional units; the system provides a number of pre-alarm signals warning the user of a very early stage detection of smoke and/or products of combustion.

  • Requiring only a 1/8" hole on the room or corridor being protected, it is an active system that draws air from the protected area to a computerized analyzer in a remote location to be thoroughly inspected for any smoke particles, or carbon monoxide present in the continuous samples.
  • Although the carbon monoxide detector is a separate device, and can utilize the large pipe system currently available with the smoke detectors.
Contemporary Smoke Detectors
Honeywell
  • Incorporates "Smart Check": A state-of-the-art optical sensing chamber and advanced microprocessor. It also helps eliminate nuisance alarms and virtually eliminates false alarms.
  • V-Plex Polling Loop Technology: State-of-the-art V-Plex polling loop technology offers significant advantages over standard sensors. It auto-maintains proper function even with the presence of contaminants. Clean easily and quickly without disassembling the detector head. It provides fast response time, helps prevent false alarm-driven service calls and allows for more points of protection in the future.
System Sensor
  • System Sensor's intelligent smoke detectors use advanced communications protocols to ensure accuracy and stability. Sophisticated software provides false alarm reduction and automatically monitors detector sensitivity.

N.F.P.A. STATISTICS

According to the National Fire Protection Association...

  •  An estimated $10.7 million in property damage occurred as a result of fire.
  • An estimated $6.9 million resulted loss occurred in residential properties.
  • Every 20 seconds, a fire department responds to a fire somewhere in the nation.
  • 74% of all reported home fire deaths resulted from fires in homes with either no smoke alarms or no working smoke alarms. We can install monitored fire alarm systems to cover any home or business.
  • Experts report that you can reduce your risk of dying in a home fire by half, simply by having a working fire alarm system in their homes.
